Customer Reviews about Garners Ferry Animal Hospital

  • I want to explain what a great place and how great the people are at Garners Ferry Animal Hospital (GFAH)! Part of our family is what GFAH feels like to me, and us a part of their family. Not only Dr. Cheatham and Dr. Hendrix, but also the staff, from the receptionist to the vet techs, show a superior compassion, kindness, caring, understanding, and, most of important of all, a loving attitude toward their patients and their patient’s owners. They let you know that there are no silly questions, putting you at ease about asking and discussing anything. There is a bedside manner going on here with doctors and staff that you can’t fake! I’ll give you first-hand testimonial about this . . . My family have had a couple of close calls over the years with our, now deceased dog, Jack. He was always into everything, and on 2 occasions it almost cost him his life. Rodenticide (bromethalin) was the 1st brush with death he had, and when all hope was lost, the vets here led us in the right directions. ER vets told us euthanasia was the only hope after a very short period (2 days), but GFAH helped us to give Jack 4 more years of a healthy life. Dr. Hendrix helped my family support him without giving us false hope but, neither did he tell us that it was time to put Jack down . . . he left the decision up to us, in which we left our guidance in decision making up to God for what was best. At one point my family thought it was the best decision to put him down, but he was examined before the needle was inserted by Dr. Cheatham. Dr. Cheatham gave his medical opinion to not put Jack down and the rest is history! The 2nd brush was when he got hit by a car, messing him up pretty badly. He crashed during treatment at GFAH but their expertise brought him back from the brink of no return yet again. These doctors, I promise you, go above and beyond their normal call of duty to make sure every animal is cared for like a member of their own family! In the last year of Jack’s life his kidney function was in decline. When he started to go downhill (fast), in his last weeks, GFAH once again gave us guidance in the most compassionate ways I believe possible. If you’ve ever had to make a decision to put a pet down that is a member of your family, you know that it is a decision that comes hard. You want to make sure that you are making the right decision, giving your pet a fighting chance. GFAH helped us give this fighting chance to Jack and helped us with a very hard decision. In this painful moment the staff couldn’t have been any more compassionate . . . I just want to let you know, the reader of this review, through my experiences, trials, and tribulations with a pet that was loved very much by his family, that you can trust Garners Ferry Animal Hospital as a whole! These are good, knowledgeable people that know their animals . . . I don’t want to seem vain by mentioning finances, but if you’re like my family, you don’t have an endless supply of money that you can toss in the air. Never did I feel through any of the experiences with GFAH that we were gouged or over charged in any kind of way. Matter of fact, I think they went above and beyond with explaining their charges for Jack’s extensive treatments and were more than fair on their prices . . . In closing, I would trust these vets with any animal or situation. I lived in Conway the last year of Jack’s life and still do. Not sure when I will get another dog, but plan on getting another when the time is right. When I do, you can bet that I will be making the trip to Columbia to see the good people at Garners Ferry Animal Hospital!
